Dr. Kerry McCarthy, biographer of both Byrd and Tallis (Oxford University Press) gives the first lecture of the 23rd William Byrd Festival, August 5–21, 2022, in Portland, Oregon. Mark Williams is Artistic Director; Dean Applegate in Festival Director and co-founder; the festival features Cantores in Ecclesia, directed by Blake Applegate, resident director. This year's festival is a celebration of the music of Thomas Tallis and William Byrd.
